William C. Thomas, Chair

Bill currently serves as the Vice-President and Principal of a private financial and management consulting firm and has over 19 years of experience in both the for- and not-for-profit sectors, managing accounting, finance, and reporting activities for clients and enterprise in diverse industries including oil, transportation, media, pharma, education and healthcare industries.

He is a certified public accountant and an adjunct professor of finance at University of Virginia. Bill is a graduate of Howard University and resides in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Angela Sanders, Immediate Past Chair

Angela is an Assistant Director of Academic Programs at the Georgetown University Center for Continuing and Professional Education. She shares her educational and work experiences with organizations such as the National Association of Former Foster Care Children on vital topics of education, personal and professional development. She was a key player in initiating the Executive Development Institute (EDI) with Medstar Health and the partnership with Blacks in Government. Ms. Sanders holds a Master’s degree from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from State University of New York College at Buffalo and a Senior Executive Leadership and Professional Manager Certificate from Georgetown University.

Jill Parker Landsman, Interim Treasurer

Jill Parker Landsman serves as the Vice President, Communications & Media Relations for the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors®. As the editor-in-chief of NVAR’s RE+View magazine, Landsman ensures that the publication and other NVAR communication vehicles, provide editorial content in support of fair housing policies and the code of ethics

As a board member of Housing & Community Services of Northern Virginia since 2008, Landsman spearheaded a fundraising race and gala. The proceeds go toward assisting local residents who are in housing distress with a sustainable solution. She has been appointed to the Fairfax County Fair Housing Task Force.

Previously, Landsman served as the public relations manager and website administrator for the Technology Student Association. She was editor for AAA’s Car & Travel magazine for five years. As a staff writer for a national home medical equipment association, Landsman wrote health care testimony presented on Capitol Hill and home health care newsletters..

A former newspaper reporter and news editor for the Potomac News in Virginia, her articles were nominated for Virginia Press Association awards. Before moving to Virginia, Landsman taught English and journalism in New Jersey, leading the high school newspaper to Gold Medal awards at the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.

Landsman earned a bachelor of arts in English and education and completed master’s studies in English literature. Currently, she earned a master’s degree in real estate from Realtor University®. She currently serves on the National Association of Realtors® Research Committee and is active with the Public Relations Society of America, National Capital Chapter. The Virginia Association of Realtors® presented her with the NAR Omega Tau Rho Award at its 2015 convention. She serves on the Fairfax County Fair Housing Task Force and the Virginia Housing Development Authority Advisory Board.

Sheila Mongan

Sheila Mongan is a Voluntary Benefits specialist helping employers and organizations with their attraction and retention tools. She has been a customer service specialist for over 30 years. Most of her experience has been in the hospitality and sales industries. Sheila is a native New Yorker and spent most of her career working for Marriott and Hilton in New York City and Washington, DC. She is a graduate of the Cornell Hotel School with a B.S. in Food and Beverage Management. She brings her experience in Banquets and events to the Everyone’s Home Matters Gala and raising sponsorships for HCSNV.

José Páiz

José Páiz is our expert on affordable housing issues.  With over 20 years’ experience in the mortgage banking and financial services industry, Jose is currently a Sales Manager with Movement Mortgage. He previously worked with the Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA), promoting VHDA’s community lending and relationship building initiatives.

José is a past Director of the DC Metro Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals, and currently serves in their Advisory Board.

Sam Ozek – Legal Advisor

Works as a supervisor for the FDIC and before that worked as a banking lawyer elsewhere in government and in the private sector. Sam serves on the Board of Women in Housing & Finance. He previously worked with Good Shepherd Housing, also in Fairfax. Sam graduated from William & Mary and lives in Arlington.
